I GAVE A HOMELESS WOMAN SHELTER IN MY GARAGE—TWO DAYS LATER, I LOOKED INSIDE AND CRIED OUT, “OH GOD! WHAT IS THIS?!”

One rainy evening, I saw an older woman standing under a streetlamp, drenched and frail. Her eyes reminded me of my late mother. I stopped and offered her shelter in my garage. She accepted, though skeptical, and I left her with some blankets.

Two days later, I checked on her and found the garage spotless and organized. On a table was a stack of bills—thousands of dollars. She explained she had found it hidden in old boxes, and I realized it was money my late father had stashed away.

I was stunned. She could’ve kept it, but she didn’t. Instead, she returned it to me, showing immense honesty. Over time, we formed a close bond. I helped her start anew with some of the money, and she helped me see the value of kindness and trust.

This unexpected friendship reminded me that sometimes the greatest rewards come when we give with no expectations.
