Sheehan’s work on “General Hospital” earned him a nomination for a Daytime Emmy in 1982.

Actor Doug Sheehan, who starred in the soap opera General Hospital, раssеd аwау. His age was 75.

Sheehan раssеd аwау “peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024, with his loving wife at his side,” according to a statement released by the Wyoming-based Kane Funeral Home.

“Services are currently awaiting. The message went on, “Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.” The cause of dеаth is yet unknown.

The Californian actor had his television debut in 1978 as Chuck’s Angels, but General Hospital’s Joe Kelly, a lawyer, gave him his big break in 1979.

Sheehan remained a cast member of the popular soap opera until 1982, when he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the outstanding actor in a supporting role in a daytime drama series category.

He appeared in the Dallas spinoff Knots Landing in 1983 as reporter Ben Gibson, Valene Ewing’s (Joan Van Ark) second husband.

He played stockbroker Brian Harper in the two-season NBC sitcom Day by Day, which starred Christopher Daniel Barnes and Linda Kelsey, before terminating his career in 1988. His television credits also include roles on the shows MacGyver, Diagnosis Murder, Columbo, Cheers, and Clueless.

Sheehan also made appearances on the big screen in films, including Cops n Roberts (1995), Victor/Victoria (1982), and the 1979 comedy 10.

His final appearance in front of the camera was as a guest star in the television series Sabrina the Teenage Witch, starring Melissa Joan Hart, and What I Like About You, starring Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth.

Social media was filled with grief on Sheehan’s passing. “He hadn’t been on General Hospital in 42 years, and the fans never forgot him and never stopped asking for his return,” a user on X (previously Twitter) commented. It is not only remarkable, but also a credit to Doug Sheehan.
