The woman’s scheme was ill-conceived from the start. Her date, Mr. Lui, had intended to impress her by treating her and her relatives to a meal at one of his favorite restaurants. But he was taken aback when he arrived to find not just her, but her entire extended family – totaling 23 members. Understandably, Mr. Lui hesitated at the thought of footing the bill for such a large gathering, leading to an uncomfortable situation.
The incident took place in a restaurant in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, as reported by the Taizhou Evening News. While the woman’s intentions may have been questionable, she hoped to gauge Mr. Lui’s willingness to shаrе and provide for her family. Unfortunately, her execution of this plan left much to be desired, especially considering it was their first blind date.As the meal progressed, it became evident that Mr. Lui wasn’t on board with the woman’s test of generosity. Instead of gracefully accepting the burden of the bill, he made an abrupt exit, leaving the woman to face the consequences alone. The bill amounted to a substantial 20,000 yuan (around $3,100), and she was solely responsible for it – a bitter outcome for her test.
Despite the awkward situation, the woman didn’t stop there. Out of frustration, she even filed a lawsuit against Mr. Lui. In the end, the court ruled that he should only pay 1400 yuan of the bill.
In hindsight, the woman’s attempt to assess her date’s generosity not only failed but also came at a great cost. While her intentions may have been noble, this cautionary tale reminds us that honesty and communication are key in any relationship, instead of resorting to elaborate tests of character.
